At a desirable condominium complex in Aspen, architect Luis Menendez transformed a characterless unit into a stylish home for comfortable living and elegant entertaining. A new wine wall and dining area replaced the previous kitchen to complement the living room and serve as a focal point for the entertainment area.

In an Aspen Alps condominium, Menendez Architects creatively treated a massive river rock chimney to properly proportion it to the size of the living room. A new steel surround increased the appearance of the size of the firebox and through the use of different materials, augmented the slenderness of the chimney and reduced its scale.

To create a spa-like feel in the master bathroom of a townhouse in Snowmass Village, Menendez Architects replaced the built-in tub deck and vanity with freestanding fixtures set against backdrops of natural materials. The vessel style sinks set atop a ‘floating’ cabinet echo the appearance of the new tub.

The kitchen is representative of the design strategies used to transform the previously gloomy interiors into bright open spaces. Several interior walls were removed and all finishes replaced with a palette of new warm, richly textured natural materials juxtaposed against sleek, modern surfaces.

A smart, stylish renovation of a 1980’s vintage Snowmass Village townhouse for Florida clients. In this top-to-bottom makeover, the townhouse received a new lease on life with a reconfigured open floor plan and all new modern finishes and lighting.

Redesign of the exterior of a riverside Aspen home using new materials with purposeful gestures. Stone veneer serves as a solid base to support a second floor. Large doors and windows, in combination with a glass railing, connect the interiors to the landscape and river below.
